Christmas Mermaid

Found this gorgeous Christmas Mermaid on the Aurora Wings digi shop. I have coloured her using StampinUp Blends and Polychromas pencils. The die is from Spellbinders, by Becca Feeken. The sentiment is from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set by Stampin Up.

GoPress and Foil Christmas

Using my GoPress and Foil by Couture Creations I made this very CAS Christmas card. The main image is a Couture Creations Snowflake Hot Foil Stamp. I foiled onto vellum with gold foil and used a square aperture card. The corners and sentiment are all peel-offs.

It has been a while

Wow I haven't posted since June where has the time gone. I am now into Christmas card mode and will share a few I have finished. My latest obsession at the moment is foiling. I use a GoPress and Foil machine and a laminator. This first card I foiled using the GoPress and an embossing folder.

The next one I stamped my image and then scanned it so I could print it on a Laser printer. The toner of the Laser printer is necessary for foiling with a laminator.

There are loads of You Tube videos on how to foil so I won't bore you with the details. Most of the projects I have done is from watching and learning from these videos.

Wedding season

Wedding season is happening. I have made 3 wedding cards for friends. My favourite wedding image is "Wedding Couple" by Stamps by AurorwaWings. I have printed the images onto vellum and coloured them with Polychromos pencils. The dies I have used are from Spellbinders. Roses are made from CheeryLyn dies .

Stamping with VersaMark Embossing ink

I must thank Jennifer McGuire for showing this technique.
I have used Altenew's Peony Bouquet stamp set. I stamped the detailed layer with VersaMark onto  Blue cardstock and then dusted some Perfect Pearls powder over the image. I then used the VersaMark ink to stamp the next layer which then takes away some of the powder and leaves an almost ghost shadow. To complete the stamping I used a dark blue ink to stamp the final layer. I repeated this process with the leaves and must say for a first time try it came out really well.

Box of Tags

I love the inspiration you can get from You Tube. This gift box which holds 12 gift tags is from a You Tube video by Anns Happy Stampers Large Gift Box For Matching Gift Tags Using Swirly Snowflakes. This gift box and the tags were made from the DCWV Black Currant Stack. I have used Spellbinders and Stampin Up Nesting dies for the tags. Hope you like this very easy project.

Oxide Distress Inks

My new favourite product is the Tim Holz Oxide Distress inks. They work so great on watercolour papers but I have found them to work really well on Vellum/Parchment paper as well. Here is a really quick card I made trying the inks out. The background watercolour card has been embossed and then wet and smooshed over the inks on an acrylic block. The stamped image was heat embossed with silver embossing powder and then sponged with distress inks and the peacock coloured with gel pens.

3D Pop Up Box Frame

Nothing like cleaning and de-cluttering to find stuff you accumulated more than 20 years ago. I found a pack of templates I had bought which I thought would make great 3D type cards. Well I put them away and only just found them and for the life of me cannot remember what I am supposed to do with them. So because I love puzzles I eventually worked it out. I used some bits and pieces I had already die cut and put aside for use later. The main die is from the Detailed Floral Thinlits (Stampin Up) and the Rose is from the Stampin Up Rose Garden Thinlits. Glitter is from Elizabeth Crafts and gold Congratulations peel off from my stash. I attached the rose & background die with d/s adhesive paper and added the glitter. The large die is on acetate in the inside of the card and the rose sits on the front of the card. Not very easy to see the 3D effect but it is there lol.

Magical Mermaid stamped on Parchment

This stamp set is in the new Stampin Up catalogue and at the moment is my favourite. My youngest daughter is obsessed with mermaids so this was perfect for her birthday card. I stamped the mermaid with White Stazon ink. Coloured her with Stardust gel pens and did some light embossing on her tail. There was not enough sparkle so I used Pergamano Sticky Ink on her tail and added some glitter, yes very sparkly now. I surrounded her with a Parchment circle with some lace work. Layered that on to a die cut scalloped  circle and layered that onto a white base card stamped with circles.

Box on a card

A couple of years ago I was browsing through Pinterest, as I am sure we all do, for inspiration. I came across a card with a little gift box balanced on it. I then proceeded to try and find out to to make it. No luck so I just tried my own technique.
The card is your basic 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" size with the fold on top. With the card and folded I then opened it flat and scored at 2 1/2" and 4 1/2" and cut it to about 1 3/4" down to make a step.This what the card should look like.

All decorating can be done now. I used Stampin Up Fresh Florals DSP on the lower half of the card.The border on the top is from the Floral Phases stamp set. The sentiment came from That's the Tag stamp set. All stamping was done with the new Tranquil Tide stamp pad..

The next phase was making the little gift box. My box is a 2" box. The card stock is Tranquil Tide and decorated with Fresh Florals DPS.

Measurements for the box base is 6 x 6" scored at 2" all round. Cut your tabs and fold in and glue. 

For the lid I finally after many tries got the size right. Card stock 4 1/16" x 4 1/16" is perfect for the lid to fit snugly with no gaping. Once you have cut the tabs fold and glue. Here is my finished project.

Metallic Pencils on Parchment

Decided to use my 3 metallic pencils in my Polychromas set. I worked back and front with them and then added some glitter stardust pens as well. The image is Mask of Leaves from Aurora Wings.

Aurora Wings Challenge

Just finished this gorgeous bridal image for the Aurora Wings "Frame It " challenge. I printed the image on parchment paper. Did a little embossing around the edges. Coloured the bride and groom with my trusty polychromas pencils, added a bit of sparkle and a frame.

Graduation time

I made this graduation card for a young lady who is hoping to be an archaeologist.
It was a very quick card once I had managed to get the Grad cap onto the head. A fun card for a change.

Parchment Fan

Do you have stamps you have never used? I do when I originally bought this fan stamp set from Wendy Walters I had so many creative images of what I would do with it, well time rolled by and I put the stamps away and have only just brought them out.I decided to make something that can be framed if the recipient wanted to do that. The fan is stamped out 7 times onto  pale yellow parchment paper. I used Stazon white ink. Once stamped and the ink was dry I embossed from the back and  did my perforating on the grid. Once all the blades were done I cut them out and  put them all together with a glittery brad. I layered the complete fan onto some lace patterned paper and attached it to a light yellow card.

Layered Parchment on the grid

I have made this 2 layered card using a Pergamano grid. There is quite a lot of dry embossing so I kept the cut work to a minimum. I am not sure who will get this card yet.

Shimmery Dragonflies

Love the dragonflies that fly around . Their wings are so delicate and shimmery. I have used the Dragonfly Dreams stamp and die set from Stampin Up for this card. I have kept it clean and simple, white on white with shimmer added from pearl-ex powders. The dragonflies are stamped on vellum and attached to an embossed layer. I must admit I really like the look of this card. Hope you do too.

Celebrate Spring

Love the Aurora Wings digital images. This beauty is the Rite of Spring digital stamp. I have printed her onto parchment/vellum paper. Using a combo of water colour pencils and Polychromas pencils I coloured from the back and the front.I also did a minimum of dry embossing from the back,  then layered the parchment on a rainbow coloured background paper. I kept it very simple. Loved playing with this image.

Purple for Easter

Love the Altenew stamps. This card is made with the Beautiful Day stamp set. I have stamped with black ink onto vellum. The colouring is done with my Polychromos pencils. I have layered it onto a piece of parchment with lace cut work and embossing. That is then layered on purple and then sponged card stock.
